The Eighth Wonder of the World on Video

As a follow up to my last post One Giant Leap Backwards – Thai Style American Breakfast I can now present on video what I refer to as the Eighth Wonder of the World. A Thai girl eating a full English breakfast with jam on toast, which is one more reason why they call the Land of Smiles, Amazing Thailand.

On the last morning of my recent Thailand holiday Wonderful Wi and myself popped into the Irish Clock Bar in Udon Thani for a full English breakfast. Three quarters of the way through her meal Wilai buttered a slice of toast, spread jam on it, and then placed it on her plate. Sensing a magical moment I grabbed my camera and Wilai knew what was coming next.

When the camera rolled Wilai went into a fit of giggles and got a bit shy but after a couple of video takes, some ‘egg-ing’ on by me, and a thin slice of ‘ham’ acting from the girl herself, Beyond The Mango Juice can now display a video of the Eighth Wonder of the World, a full English breakfast with jam on toast.

Wilai’s going to go mad when she views this, but when you’ve captured the Eighth Wonder of the World on film then you’re kind of obliged to let it go global.

Martyn, Wilai is just going to whip your butt when you get home to Thailand!

Yes, I was intrigued by the different cuisine in Thailand when I and my wife went there in 2008. It is indeed the land of smiles. We had such a great time there and really did not want to leave. The people were friendly and the place is absolutely beautiful.

Catherine – Wilai will actually be okay about it, she kind of likes appearing on the internet now and again. Point a camera at a Thai girl and you know what’s going to happen.

Off to work in two hours time…back to reality.

David – Thanks for your response. The Land of Smiles is a great place to visit, you really must get back there.

Poor girl, isn’t that considered cruel and unusual punishment being forced to eat that stuff 😉

Wi has a great smile and laugh Martyn, you sir are a lucky man.

Talen – Wilai actually enjoys an English breakfast and Thai style American one ( I accept now that it’s not the real thing). Wi’s a great kid with a beaming smile and a very infectious laugh, make that a girly giggle.

The English Breakfast is similar to a Colombian Lunch called Bandeja Paisa.

A bit to strong for my taste.

How is the Thai Breakfast like ?

  8. Martyn says:

Manuel – Thanks for your views and the Columbian lunch photo, it looks quite tasty but if its got a spicy kick to it then I’ll leave it alone.
