Udon Thani Hotels – Home at Udon Hotel
@ Home at Udon Hotel, Sampanthamit Road, Udon Thani
Home at Udon Hotel is on Sampanthamit Road in Udon Thani’s city centre. Its central location, in close proximity to the railway and main bus station is a massive plus, but the hotel is still easy to miss because it sits back from Sampanthamit Road and the sign above its burrow-like threshold doesn’t exactly holler ‘accommodation’. Be that as it may, Home at Udon is a hotel worth making a big effort to find.
Home at Udon opened in 2012 and its eye-catching freshness is still obvious when entering the hotel’s front lobby. The hotel has 38 very reasonably priced, sweetly furnished rooms, and its central location makes it a great value-for-money place to stay in Udon Thani. A Standard room for two adults is 590 baht (US$20), and a Deluxe room only three dollars more.
The Standard rooms cannot be described as a little on the large size, they are not small, definitely adequate for two adults, but don’t expect the spaciousness and elbow room some high-priced and grander hotel rooms offer. If that reads negative, it’s not meant to be, because the hotel and its accommodation got an out-and-out, positive thumbs up throughout my three-night stay.
Home at Udon has adequately furnished, air-conditioned double or twin-bedded rooms, complete with a refrigerator, cable/satellite TV, free Wi-Fi, a safety box and tea/coffee-making facilities (that’s a big plus). There’s an outside balcony for smokers too.
The bathrooms at Home at Udon have an even fresher look than the hotel itself. They are cheerfully designed, a decent size and their shower has a very powerful blast.
The hotel has room service, 24 hour reception and a self-service food area in the hotel’s lobby area. The hotel’s front courtyard has free parking for guests but the facility is sometimes a bit squeezed. However, there is car parking space outside on Sampanthamit Road.
In my opinion @ Home at Udon is an excellent value-for-money hotel in Udon Thani, and I’d rate it highly-placed in the leading pack of the city’s two-star hotel range. Its central, nightlife rich and shopping friendly location give it added value too.

Hi Martyn. Udon is on the radar for us on the next road trip. Thanks for the review and does give us more options. Kai needs to see more of Udon besides Central Plaza. This could be a great location to be based out of for that.
How – The hotel offers good value-for-money and despite it being in the livelier part of the city, our room didn’t catch any noise. It’s ideal for nightlife and shopping, Udon’s big night market scene is only a two minute walk away.

A cool looking place. Good value for money too. There are still plenty of good deals like this in the provinces. About £14 a night? Wonder what a similar place in the UK would cost!
Mike – There are plenty of two star hotels in Udon Thani and most are in this kind of price range. I just think @Home at Udon is one of the best in that bracket. I’d read a lot of good reviews about and decided to check it out myself.
In The UK… a complete guess… £35-£60?
